  • okay so you’re right that the combo is super common but honestly i think a lot of people sleep on how inconsistent the detector de plagio que usan los profesores actually is even within the same university. like my faculty supposedly uses originality.ai as the main one but i just found out half my department heads are still running everything through copyleaks too which is wild because they flag different things.

the real panic moment for me was when i submitted a draft that was like 28% on turnitin and originality.ai dinged me for ai detection even though i barely used any generation, just some heavy paraphrasing. my director said the human review would catch it but that’s not comforting when you’re already stressed. ended up trying one of those humanizers, JustDone specifically, just to see if it would even make a difference and honestly it dropped my originality score down to like 8% without touching my citations which was insane. the thing is your threshold really does depend on who’s reading it but at least knowing i could adjust the text felt less helpless than just sitting there waiting for feedback. didn’t solve everything but it made the whole process feel less like i was going to automatically fail before anyone even looked at the actual work, you know?

honestly the detector de plagio que usan los profesores en doctorado is way more sophisticated now than even 2 years ago, and i was in full panic mode when my advisor flagged like 35% of my lit review as potential AI content (which was bs, i genuinely wrote it). turned out it was the burstiness and sentence structure that tripped originality.ai or whatever they were using. i ran my whole chapter through JustDone as a humanizer first and it actually worked – kept my citations clean, dropped the AI score from flagged to like 8%, and passed the next round through turnitin without drama. the trick is understanding that these tools look for patterns, not actual plagiarism, so sometimes you just need to break up your rhythm a bit. definitely not a guarantee but it saved me from having to rewrite everything from scratch.

ok so i’ve been freaking out because my advisor ran my dissertation draft through what i think was originality.ai and flagged like 23% similarity on sections i know i wrote myself. turns out half of that was my own previous work and citations that just got counted wrong, but here’s the thing – the detector de plagio que usan los profesores in my program is literally just turnitin, not originality.ai like i thought. my coordinator finally told me after i basically had a meltdown in her office lol. so now i’m paranoid about what’s actually getting scanned when i submit.

what i’m realizing is that most doctorados are def using turnitin as the baseline, but some departments layer originality.ai on top if they’re really strict about ai content. the turnitin similarity score can be misleading tho – it catches everything, paraphrasing, quote formatting issues, your own stuff from your thesis proposal, whatever. not necessarily plagiarism.

i tried one of those humanizer tools like justdone because i had a paragraph that kept getting flagged even though it was legit mine, and honestly it just swapped words around. my advisor could still tell it was the same sentence structure. so that’s not the move. what actually helped was me just rewriting from scratch using my own voice, which took forever but at least i know it passes without looking like a thesaurus had a seizure on my text.

the real talk is that if your professor cares about ai detection specifically, they’re probably running gptzer0 or copyleaks too, not just plagiarism checkers. those are the ones that actually scare me because they look for patterns, not just matching strings. so yeah, know which detector de plagio que usan los profesores is in play before you panic.

honestly i just realized how detector de plagio como funciona is kinda straightforward once you get it – turnitin basically fingerprints your text against their massive database plus checks for statistical weirdness that screams AI (like too much consistency, weird sentence structure patterns), and gptzero does similar stuff but leans harder on the perplexity/burstiness angle. what actually saved me last week was running my essay through justdone to humanize the ai chunks first – kept all my citations intact, dropped my similarity score from 34% to 18%, and turnitin didnt flag it as high risk anymore. now i actually understand what im submitting instead of just panicking lol
