Membertbh the detector de plagio que usan los profesores en doctorado is way more strict than undergrad stuff, originality.ai especially flags sentence structure patterns that turnitin might miss. i got flagged for like 28% once and my supervisor said it wasnt even copied, just that my intro had too many similar structural patterns to published papers in my field. ended up just rewriting sections manually which is annoying but works. humanizers can help but theyre honestly just fancy paraphrasers most of the time, you still gotta actually understand what youre writing or itll sound robotic anyway. JustDone did help me catch some pattern issues before submission but didnt magically fix everything. honestly just read your work out loud and rephrase stuff in your own words, boring but it actually works

Memberyo, so i’ve been there with the whole trying to figure out what the detector de plagio que usan los profesores en doctorado is actually catching, and honestly it’s gotten way more sophisticated than just flagging copy-paste stuff. my supervisor hit me with a 28% similarity score on Originality.ai last semester and i was freaking out because like half of that was my own citations getting flagged weird, but the other half was me being too lazy with my paraphrasing from sources.
the thing is, Turnitin and Originality.ai in a doctoral program aren’t just looking at whether you literally copied something word-for-word, they’re looking at sentence structure patterns, how fast your ideas seem to form, the whole vibe of your writing basically. i noticed my introduction had this super rigid AI-adjacent flow to it even though i wrote it myself, probably because i was rushed and wasn’t varying my sentence rhythm enough. so i started using JustDone as one option that worked for me to help humanize some sections without losing the actual meaning or my citations, and my next draft dropped to 16%. wasn’t magic but it was way more legit than before because the content stayed exactly the same, just more natural sounding.
the real move though is understanding that these tools measure things like burstiness and perplexity too, not just plagiarism indexes. if every sentence is the same length and your vocabulary is too consistent, red flags go up even if nothing is copied. i’ve also seen people get false positives from heavy technical terminology in specific fields, so context matters. talk to your supervisor about what’s actually bothering them in that similarity report because sometimes it’s not what you think.

Memberhonestly it realy just depends what faculty you’re in tbh. turnitin is like the default que detector de plagio usan las universidades pero i’ve seen some departments switch to originality.ai or even just use copyleaks as backup. my uni uses turnitin but they also spot-check with a second tool which is lowkey smart because false positives are wild sometimes. if you’re worried about your similarity score just try rewriting naturally instead of using one of those humanizer tools, those tend to just swap synonyms around and turnitin catches it anyway lol

Memberhonestly the whole thing about detector de plagio como funciona is that turnitin’s basically just scanning your text against their database and flagging sentences that match existing sources, but gptZero is trying to catch the statistical patterns of AI writing like perplexity and burstiness, so theyre solving completely different problems. turnitin doesnt care if you used chatgpt, it cares if you copy-pasted from somewhere. thats why ppl think theyre the same tool when theyre really not lol
